Subject: RE : [THS] Trekt Uw Plant Tests The Belgian Drug Law

Dear All,

How fast history is forgotten by everyone...It's a shame, and not the one from TALK TALK !

Indeed, already at the end of 1994 (the 9th of December to be accurate) some people created the Belgian Cannabist Consumenten Bond or BCCB (Belgian Cannabist Consumers League), a non-profit organisation aiming at the 'emancipation of cannabis consumers'... The BCCB organised several 'blow-ins' (in Antwerp foremost) and other actions; they also published a magazine called 'Het Blad' (The Leaf)... Thet had alot of mediacoverage dissappeared little by little because of internal conflicts of interests... At least that's the official history... So, 'Trekt Uw Plant' is not new, neither their action that rehashes the BCCB activities...

The truth is however is different, as it is with alomst all cananbis consumer organisations: They are mostly back up by shadowy people and organisations who represent the interest of (illegal) traders, hence making a conflict of interest the very core of their existence...In short: 'cannabinists, despite the good faith of some of their members ARE only adding fuel on the fir eof the War on Drugs, and in some cases they are even stimulated by the 'Drug warriors' as their interests are the same. Indeed, they al claim that THEIR drugs are the good ones and the other products the bad ones... Sounds familiar ins't it, as this is exactly what the Policy Makers tell us...(besides this I'v always stated that cannabis organisations are discirminatory, the BCCB own slogan was even a copy of the Facist Vlaams Blok slogan...)

Before somebody attacks me, let me enlighten you... From 1991 to 1997 I had the opportunity to live through the experience of BCCb and their lookalikes as I was doing my doctotate (ph.D:) about drug users in Belgium, using the antropological method of full participant observation... As such I already had been involved in the creation of the first Interest Groups of Drug USers' in Belgium (DEBED and the French counterpart CCLA), who were both contacted by the initiators of BCCB in 1994, among others to draw up the statutes...DEBED and CCLA were of course opposed to the creation of a onliners and one-issue organisations as the BCCB, well knowing that cannabisorganisations al over the world tend to be very repressive against uses of other drugs (hence reinforcing the policie repression...). Moreover, the Antwerp incrowd being quite small, we all knew that some of the initiators of the BCCB were well known DEALERS in Antwep and elsewhere, with contacts to some very dodgy people in several other countries...THis a a clear example of a conflict of interest as illegal canabisdealers have conflicting interests with the CONSUMERS.. And as long as the latter don't understand this, well, nothing will change as history has proven...

Notwithstanding the opposition of the members of DEBED and CCLa, the cannabists were clearly planning to go ahead, so the spokespersons of the former made a genial move: they drew up the statutes of the BCCB and hid a nice article in it, allowing a future takeover if things would get to dodgy... Once the statutes were approved by the Ministry of Justice (beginnning of 1995) the BCCB was thuis alway under observations of those who really wanted to end the War on Drugs... Luckily the BCCB collapsed on its own (helped by the actions of several other cannabis organisations in different other cities), so the legal takeover never took place...

Since then I've always been a harsh opponent of the single issue policies as cananbinism is nothing else than a special form of Prohibitionism, only aiming at blurring the real discussion that should be held:that of a world were nobody should be eprsecuted or discriminated because of their drug of choice (includin abstentism which also is a kind of 'druig of choice'...)... Moreover cannabinism also reinforces the very unscientific statemnt of the 'soft and hard drugs debate', another hoax as there are only soft and hard users of products (and behaviors)....

Its a pity, well, even a disgrace, that 'drug activists' have to cope with Prohibition AND Cannabinism, there where a joint (sic) action would be more effective.... That's why I cannot back up such counterproductive actions and organisations as Trekt Uw Plant...(and I'm not even mentioning the presence of several of the same dodgy people that were backing up the BCCB, already 13 years ago.

Blessings from Italy
Dr. Jean Blanquart
